Half My Suitcase Is Missing

My daughter I traveled from Atlanta to Fort Lauderdale December 23, 2016. We checked 3 bags with Delta. When we went to collect our suitcase there was a large hole in our suitcase where a wheel once was. I am disabled and was in a wheelchair. I have trouble speaking...so my daughter an attorney went to Delta's Baggage Office and reported the incident. We were given a folder and assigned a file reference number. We told the Delta representative that we were headed off on a cruise, and wouldn't return until January 2, 2017. We were instructed to notify the baggage department if we had missing or damaged items. Upon our arrival back to Atlanta we did exactly what we instructed to do. The bag was sent to Delta's agent and declared a total loss. It some time for a claims representative from Delta to contact us back. Delta did pay for our bag, but only paid me a courtesy payment (half of what the recently purchased items cost) as they said we did not report the claim within 24 hours. I have filed a claim with the US Department of Transportation regarding the ability of this company to blow off passengers. Most certainly did we report this to Delta, but I had the file reference with me the whole cruise. I even took the case to local court, and loss as they presented a 50 page document in court saying that the claim had to be in writing. In one place it says you have 30 days, but in another it states 21 days to file claim...but then it also states the claim needs to be within 24 hours. Delta's attorney admitted in court that Delta paid him more to represent them, than what I had files a claim for. The whole claim no longer exists on their records (my daughter went to the airport to get the records...but my file has been wiped clean). Delta is awful, they have nasty employees, and they have made it impossible to contact them by phone. We will never fly with them again! I have been a loyal customer for over 50 years, but our relationship has ended. I will never trust them again. We will only fly Southwest...or stay home.

Baggage carried on planes

I fly all the time. I go from Myrtle Beach To Austin. I always make time a consideration as I am handicapped. Why in the world people do not check baggage or are not made to! Our flight was 2 hours late aman who came in after the handicapped seats threw his luggage into bin above my head then he went further down aisle. As pla neadred airport he bounded in front of others and got the luggage he put up there three cases, hit me in head so I stood up then he put this luggage on my foot squarely that left bruises. This is not a privilege it is unchecked when It should be monitored! Make the people do this. I am elderly and handicapped and pay extra for services not even a sorry from this ***! Two people needed to rush to get planes which I let go ahead of me but this little man barrelled his way out! Make it a rule if it doesn't fit under your seat check it only!

All airlines allow carry-ons. You do not need to check bags if you have paid for the proper carry-ons. The problem here is the rude passenger, not the airline.

This is my first time flying out of DCA, considering its an airline close to the Capitol I would assume there would be some class of people and service. Unfortunately, people were making multiple lines on their own, the employee, this one Asian bald man working on 6/24 pm, did not care what I had to inform him, he directed me to go online to complain instead? Then he was extremely rude about my tickets and scanning my bags! Makes me want to avoid delta from now on.

I'm sure he had other people to take care and tired quickly of your banal and lame complaint. He chose helping a lot of people over listening to you puff your chest out as if you were some diplomat.

I traveled through the Washington D.C. Greyhound Bus Station once and it was real crowded just like you described. Maybe next time you should just ride the Greyhound Bus and save yourself alot of money.

False weather excuse to cancel flight for 22 hours, offer no hotel

Got stranded in LGA due to made-up "weather reasons" on June 19 (weather was fine and planes still taking off at my flight's scheduled time of 15:30). 90-minute line in 90 heat (no AA) to get to an agent. Delta employees at the terminal barely speak English. Rude employee reschedules my flight for Tuesday morning, uses "weather" lie to deny me an hotel. Delta employees won't even provide a phone or any facilities to book an hotel. I'm on my own, with my last cellphone battery find a nasty, overpriced hotel that I have to pay for myself (as well as taxi to/from hotels, meals, etc.). Now I find out that, despite fine weather on Tuesday, Delta delayed my flight yet again to the early afternoon, to the same time I have scheduled a consulting telecon. Don't fly Delta. I would have got home way earlier and more comfortably if I had driven the 500 miles to my destination. And without having to deal with rude ***

People who complain about weather delays make me crazy. Just because the weather is perfect where you are and where you are going, doesn't mean the skies are clear the whole way.

Weather in different areas can affect where your flight travels. Deal or quit flying.

Yeah they really made up a line of strong to severe thunderstorms. Just because it's bright and sunny where you are doesn't mean it's the same at your destination or there will be build ups along the route that prevent flight.

Every time I book a flight through Delta, no matter how early I book my flight. They can't seem to arrive on time!

Always some type of a excuse, Alaska airlines costs a little more but you will make your business meetings on time! Get it together Delta or just quit!

So, help us understand. You're complaint is that Delta showed an ad supporting an excellent theatrical company like Shakespeare in the Park because you were struck by a rather thin and entirely accidental analogy between the content of one of their plays and a colorful metaphorical depiction of what has happened to the POTUS?

Did they actually depict the President being stabbed? Was it supposed to be an attempt to put the play Macbeth in a contemporary context?

Airlines have delays. They can't call every single passenger the second the delay happens.

If you had looked online, you would have seen it was delayed.

My advice - don't fly. Not if you can't plan ahead and/or handle delays.

Delta did not try to find my left laptop - less than 3 hrs after reported missing

On Sunday April 1 while travelling on Delta 2141 Norfolk VA, to Atlanta GA I left my lap top under the seat. I was on my connecting flight to Los Angeles less than 3 hours later when I realized. I told the flight assistant who told me to put in a lost and found report which I did there . He told me he had lost his wallet and it was returned to him in a couple of days!!! I received a automated message that my report had been received, two days later I followed this up with at email, no response. I continued to direct message to which I received bland replies. I was given a number to call Atlanta lost and found. The line does not take messages or answer calls!!! I was told my request was sent to leaders in Atlanta. 3 weeks later I got an automated message to say 'my item was not found and the report was closed. The laptop contains nearly 5 years of doctoral research, papers and of course personal information which as a new scholar I need for my future work. I am so mad at myself for leaving the laptop but really angry with Delta for not taking this seriously which is shown in the handling of this whole thing. What I want is for someone personally look into my case and return my laptop. The laptop was large and over five years old I can't believe someone would steal it. Unless the cleaners took it - who were on the plane while I was leaving!!!!

You are incredibly naive if you think the fact that it was older would stop someone from stealing. People suck, people steal and people will take anything for a chance to sell it. That's the real world.

Sabyan is the best customer service representative I spoke in my life. He went though all the details of my unfortunate and difficult situation. Delta, Its early Sunday morning after a day of travel. I bet you're figuring the next few paragraphs are going to be the usual old grinding complaint about delays or employee problems. Nope. We had wonderful flights that were on time, or earlier! Friendly ticket counter representatives, courteous and attentive flight attendants, and Captains that have great radio voices. So, I never write letters, don’t travel much, maybe fly somewhere twice a year, always DELTA. In fact, this 3 day Las Vegas trip that I took my wife on was all points that we earned from DELTA. This year was our 35th wedding anniversary. My wife's parents, as a gift, gave us a vacation rental in Cancun, and my mother gave us the airfare and 4 DELTA Skyclub passes, as there was over a 3 hour layover in Minneapolis that we would enjoy ourselves in the delta lounge. We were really looking forward to going in there to get a *** to eat and relax before the Cancun flight. After walking in the glass door we could see they were pretty busy and stood back until a gal said "are you members or what" and we said no, but we have 2 passes. So she took the passes and looked at them and said they were counterfeit and we could be charged with a crime if we didn’t leave immediately. We were very embarrassed and taken back by her assertiveness and I didn’t even have the chance to tell her how we had received them or anything like that. That was a really bad start to our 2nd honeymoon, and left me so mad. It lasted a few weeks and I just let it go. Then just this past weekend, we went to Las Vegas for a vacation presentation where the hotel was no charge if we sat in on a 2 hour sales presentation, which we did. My wife had come across the other 2 DELTA Skyclub passes we had gotten from my mother earlier, so she brought them along as we had a 3 hour layover in Salt Lake City. We walked in, gave the tickets to the lady at the counter and she processed it and I asked if it was ok, and she said yes, fine ,why do you ask? So I went on to tell her what had happened in MPLS, and she couldn’t believe it, and walked us over to 3 other gals that were at another desk and told them hat had happened and they said that they assumed the gal in MPLS took the tickets and kept them for herself. I'm not so sure, because other employees were there and customers. One who approached us outside the club also said she had never seen something like that happen. Well these kind ladies in the Salt Lake City Skyclub let us stay in the club for the 1 1/2 hour we had before our flight and had us keep the passes to use in MPLS to see what would happen because they had checked them with a red light thing which lets them see a hologram or watermark to identify that it is real. They showed my wife and myself another pass and it had the identical pattern on it. Then they wrote their names and phone number on a piece of paper in Salt Lake and they tell us to have the MPLS skyclub gals to get a supervisor and have them call the salt lake gals so they can see what is going on. So we get into MPLS Saturday and had about 3 hours. Went to skyclub and the lady asked if we had boarding passes, and my wife gave them and skyclub passes to her. She looked at them and said they don’t scan and look different. We asked her to call her manager, who is Jerico A. He came to back of counter and took passes did something behind counter, and said we have brought our counterfeit cards in here and now he keeps them and we must give him our boarding passes and my wife said no and he made her hand over the boarding passes, punched something into the computer, gave the boarding passes back to us and said we must leave. He was very rude and very unprofessional as was the lady in MPLS back in February. ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. OK... I didn't send this because I was tired and maybe still angry, but I thought it was just therapeutic to get it out and on paper. I felt better anyway. So today we went out for dinner and cocktails with a lifelong Republic/Northwest/Delta employee who retired from Delta two years ago and happened to discuss our weekend Vegas trip and we told her what happened. She said it is probably true as it has happened a lot, and Jerico A still has a beef with the company since they moved him to his current position, which he doesn’t like and "takes what he can get" to make up for it. My wife and I have had other conversations this past week with other skyclub members, and all have said to send this letter. So, for whatever it's worth, this is a truthful account of our 35th wedding anniversary gift from our parents. And I hope you don’t get these letters very often. I got stuck on my first Embraer aircraft and after a miserable cramped ride and a close examination of the plane and its components decided I'd drive next time before boarding another of these rattle-trap third world Brazilian airplanes. As if going to the airport and dealing with no parking, no baggage helpers, surly TSA agents, and long lines I needed that neck cramping airplane (I had to bend my head to the left the entire time to avoid the ceiling) like I needed, you know, a pain in the neck.

Yes, that sucks to have that happen to you. The thing that I do not understand though is why in the world anyone would pay $550 for a suitcase.

Come on, really? First, it is a bag to carry clothes in. Second, you know it is going to get beat up. What are people thinking?

Do you care THAT much about what the other people in the airport, who you don't even know, think about you based on your extravagant suitcase? What does it do that a $50 bag doesn't, besides empty your wallet?

customer service of flight attendants of Delta international flights is horrible. They are rude, ignore your requests, try to cheat you out of food/drinks. I had to tell them- I paid for 2 international tickets and it's not cheap and you treat me this way! My 2 yo son's leg stuck out into the isle when we were asleep, they were very rude about it. Didn't wake us up or put food on table in front of us, or tried to give us food for one person when I paid for 2 and when I questioned them about it, they were extremely rude and I had to wait long time for a drink and had to ask different attendants several times before they brought that to me. Delta! Do something about your customer care!

From the attitude displayed in your complaint, it appears that your personality played a part in this situation, e.g., your son's leg was in the aisle; there is no way anything they said or did was rude, it should not have been there. You also complain that you were not woke up to receive food, but if they had woke you up, you would have complained about that. Since there are no buses on most international trip, I would suggest you go by ship.
