We booked a European flight with Delta, business class. Then our son died of cancer so had to cancel.

Delta told us they were non-refundable but were good for a year. When we went to reschedule for the trip ten months later they said that we lost our tickets since we had not completed the flight at an earlier time. One person told us that rescheduling within a year of our original flight was proper and the next person said we lost our flight tickets.

Do not fly Delta.

Used to fly Delta but now I tell everyone to never fly Delta. They went from a good airline to the worst in the industry.

I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your son. Please don't let this rest and talk to a supervisor at Delta and get a letter from your son's attending doctor and send it to Delta along with a copy of the tickets and the date and name of the person that told you the tickets were good for a year. They are good for a year and someone at Delta will figure it out.
